Palin's 18-year-old Daughter Gives Birth to Son

Alaska governor Sarah Palin's daughter Bristol Palin and Levi JohnstonBristol Palin, the 18-year-old daughter of Alaska Governor and former Vice-Presidential candidate Sarah Palin, gives birth to a son on Sunday according to People magazine. Levi Johnston, an apprentice electrician who has been dating Palin's daughter for three years, is the father of the baby.

The baby's name is Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston who weighs 7 lbs 4 oz or 3.3 kg.

BBC reported, "The Alaska governor, a mother-of-five, disclosed the pregnancy three days after she was nominated as the Republican vice-presidential candidate in September."

Sarah Palin and her husband Todd said, "Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realise very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family."

The couple are planning to tie the knot in 2009.
