Michael Jackson King of Pop Dies at 50 Due to Cardiac ArrestThe King of Pop Michael Jackson died in Los Angeles Thursday afternoon due to cardiac arrest. The 50-year-old superstar was pronounced dead at 2:26 p.m. at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center near his mansion in Holmby Hills.

"It's a very sad day for all of us. It's such a terrible shame. He was my friend," Jackson's manager Frank DiLeo said.

The children of Michael Jackson namely Blanket, 7, Paris, 11, and Prince Michael, 12, "are very upset, but they are fine."

On Thursday afternoon, Jackson was stricken so a 911 call was placed. A statement from the hospital said, "His personal physician, who was with him at the time, attempted to resuscitate Jackson, as did paramedics who transferred him."

After arriving at the hospital at 1:14 p.m., "A team of doctors including emergency physicians and cardiologists attempted to resuscitate for a period of more than one hour but were unsuccessful."
